Sharjah 24 – WAM: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) and Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ahmad Al Safadi discussed ways to enhance parliamentary relations.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of 28th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 28) being organised at Expo City Dubai.
During the meeting, they discussed various aspects of existing cooperation in various fields between the UAE and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in a way that achieves the vision of the leadership of the two countries and the aspirations of the two peoples, and reflects the fraternal deep-rooted ties and cooperation that were established more than five decades ago and represent a unique model in the level of close rapprochement between two countries and two brotherly peoples.
The two sides emphasised the importance of strengthening parliamentary relations between the two brotherly countries and coordinating positions on various issues of common interest, and aspects of support, cooperation and coordination between the two sides in light of the distinguished and exceptional relations that bring the two countries together at various levels.
The two sides also discussed the UAE’s hosting of COP28 and the importance of strengthening the world’s efforts, international collective action to address sustainability challenges towards safer societies, and the role of parliaments based on their legislative and monitoring tasks, as parliaments play a fundamental role in enacting, legislating or amending laws, especially those related to the energy and climate change fields.
In turn, Ahmed Al Safadi, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, stressed that relations between the UAE and Jordan are a prominent regional model in close bilateral relations, which are based on the bonds of joint history and unified goals and visions, thanks to long-standing relations over the past decades and the diligent follow-up and prudent directives of the wise leadership in the two fraternal countries.
Al Safadi also extended an invitation to Saqr Ghobash to visit the Kingdom and the House of Representatives.
A number of officials and FNC members attended the meeting.
