Sharjah 24: The Board of Trustees of Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi Award for Sports Excellence begun the evaluation phase of nearly 1,630 nomination files in the award categories, which extends for a week, and includes sorting the files accurately by the Technical Committee.
This comes to ensure that the required documents are completed and meeting the criteria and conditions, before moving to the next stage, which is the final judging stage, in preparation for announcing the winners of the award’s first session, and honouring them in an official ceremony that will be organised at the end of next November.
Her Excellency Najla Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Award, stated that all files are being evaluated through the process of sorting the formal criteria, which is divided into two stages, the first stage is sorting of registration applications and the second stage is the screening of candidacy applications, which aims to ensure that the applications meet all requirements by matching the required data with the submitted documents, and matching the Emirates identity for citizens and residents and verifying the target age groups in the Sports Leadership category, personal photo according to the specifications by the system and recommendation letter from the club, which clarifies the aspects of leadership and moral excellence of the candidate. Followed by the second stage of screening for applications, which focuses on ensuring that the application matches the nomination conditions for the target groups according to the award guide.
She added that the candidates compete in the different categories of the award, which supported and sponsored by the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation. The award is divided to four main categories: first: Sports Leadership category, which includes Best Budding Athlete , best Rising athlete, Best young athlete, and second category: Sports future partners, which consists of best sports media influencer, best active in sports forums, best sports opportunity creator, best sports mentor, best sports family, and best sports-supporting organisation, best sports-supporting sponsor, in addition to the lifetime achievement award and sports personality of the year categories.
Her Excellency Najla Al Shamsi stressed in her speech that we in the Board of Trustees are pleased with the response and from various clubs, entities and sports institutions, individuals and companies, and happy with the number of nominations in various categories, which exceeded expectations, on the first edition of the award.
