Sharjah 24: Sharjah Fort celebrates 200 years with a historical programme. Sharjah Museums Authority organised the eighth edition of its "Fort in Memory" programme under the title "The Historical Monument", in the presence of a number of researchers and those interested in the history of Sharjah.
Amna Al-Askar, curator of Sharjah Fort, said that the eighth edition of the "Fort in Memory" programme hosted sessions with specialised researchers in the history of Sharjah. This year's programme is under the title "The Historical Monument", and it was attended by Dr Saif Al-Badwawi and Dr Badria Al-Shamsi from the University of Sharjah, in addition to Mr Khalid Mansour from the Sharjah Archaeology Museum.
In a statement to "Sharjah 24", Al-Askar confirmed that many topics of history were discussed during the session, dating back to nearly 200 years since the construction of Sharjah Fort. The events and developments that the region has witnessed over time were reviewed, and the importance of the fort as a historical and cultural symbol of the city was highlighted.
Al-Askar added that the programme aims to enhance the historical and cultural awareness of the community and document the cultural heritage of Sharjah. This programme is also a platform for researchers and those interested in history to exchange knowledge and discuss, and it contributes to enriching the cultural and historical dialogue in the city and region.
