SCCI organises ‘Best Practices Forum for Sharjah Exc. Award’

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Wednesday hosted a forum on “Best Practices for Sharjah Excellence Award” to foster its partnerships with diverse government bodies, private entities, and business sectors.
Themed "The Future of Sustainability”, the event aimed to promote the highest standards of quality, foster a culture of excellence, and advance social responsibility initiatives focused on sustainability.

Held at the SCCI headquarters, the event was attended by high-profile figures, including Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI. Also in attendance were Sheikh Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ali bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Environmental Advisor to the Government of Ajman and Vice Chairman of Al Ihsan Charity Association; Salim Ali Salem Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Sharjah City Municipal Council; Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; and Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.

Waleed Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Vice Chairman of the Chamber, as well as numerous members of the Chamber's Board of Directors and Abdulaziz Mohammed Shattaf, Assistant Director-General of the Communication and Business Sector at the Sharjah Chamber, were also present along with distinguished representatives from Bee'ah Group, government institutions, and bodies in the Emirate of Sharjah, and businessmen.

The event discussed the social responsibility initiatives launched by the government and private sectors to benefit both society and the environment as well as their future plans for promoting sustainability. It also reviewed sustainability projects submitted by government departments that won in previous editions of the Sharjah Excellence Award in the social responsibility category.

Abdullah Sultan Al Owais emphasized that the "Best Practices Forum for Sharjah Excellence Award 2023" is an essential pillar of the award, reflecting the SCCI's commitment to fostering a culture of quality and excellence. It also seeks to promote the adoption of best practices within the private sector, with the ultimate goal of enhancing their sustainability.

He added that the chamber is committed to launching innovative projects and initiatives that bolster the capabilities of the business community and the private sector in adopting sustainability standards. Hence, the SCCI signed the "Chambers Climate Coalition" document, aligning with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. This document aims to unify global chamber of commerce efforts in promoting environmentally responsible business practices.

For his part, Sheikh Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ali bin Rashid Al Nuaimi applauded SCCI for organizing the forum, describing it as a significant initiative towards embedding sustainability practices into institutional cultures within government and private agencies.

He highlighted the need for a shift in social responsibility towards enhancing sustainability, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts and expertise exchange to launch environmentally and sustainably compliant development initiatives.

Also during the meeting, Yousef Al Qaseer from Bee'ah Group briefed participants on the organization's achievements and extensive experience in sustainability and digital transformation. He shed light on the group's investments in supporting the circular economy to realize sustainability and comprehensive development goals.

Wrapping up the forum, Abdullah Sultan Al Owais honored various speakers and institutions for their invaluable contributions, including Sheikh Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ali bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security, Sharjah International Airport Authority, the Social Services Department, Bee'ah Group, and Sharjah Coop.
