Sharjah24: Observing the annual celebration of International Coffee Day (ICD) on October 1st, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage hosted a special event.
The event, held at the institute's headquarters in the Emirate of Sharjah, drew coffee professionals and aficionados from all over the UAE. Heritage scholars Nihad Hilmy Atif and Mouza Sifan participated in a panel discussion at the event, which focused on the significance of coffee in various cultural traditions.

Activities included traditional coffee preparation workshops hosted by the Emirates Crafts Centre, coffee cup painting, and live demonstrations of coffee preparation from around the world.

According to Dr Abdulaziz Al Muslim, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, coffee has been profoundly ingrained in the traditions of the United Arab Emirates throughout its history since it symbolises generosity and hospitality, values for which the Emirati culture is famed.

According to Aisha Obaid Ghabish, Director of Events and Activities at the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, coffee etiquette and how to serve it to guests are well-documented in Emirati vernacular poetry.
