Sharjah24: On the morning of Wednesday, September 27, 2023, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, paid a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Centre.
He was welcomed at the centre by Dr Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, Dr Mona Fahad Mahmoud Al Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) for International Cooperation, as well as many university officials.

His Highness was briefed on the university's noteworthy accomplishments in numerous scientific, academic, and research sectors at the start of his tour.

Through its scientific and humanities faculties, the university, founded in 1986, provides over 160 academic programmes at the undergraduate, master's, doctoral, and higher diploma levels. It also houses a number of research centres that cover a wide range of topics.

His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, was given a tour of the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Centre's facilities and halls, which support the centre's key goals and provide critical cultural services.

He proceeded to the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Centre's big hall, which serves as a great venue for multiple events. The main hall can accommodate roughly 4,800 people. The hall's design allows for swift chair removal and is outfitted with quick-folding technology to handle a variety of events, such as sporting events and exhibitions.

Furthermore, the hall building houses a modern theatre outfitted with cutting-edge audiovisual systems and theatre technologies such as lighting and translation devices.

Following that, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah visited the Oman Studies Centre's library, which is one of the most important specialised libraries within the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Centre. This collection is dedicated to Omani affairs and contains studies and publications aimed at gathering Omani intellectual output, preserving it, and making it available to academics, scholars, and interested individuals both within and outside the Sultanate.

The Omani Books Hall, University Theses Hall, Government Publications Hall, Manuscripts Hall, Researchers' Hall, and Digital Hall are among the rooms in the library. The library's collections include around 8,400 titles of books on various subjects relating to the Sultanate of Oman, as well as over 2,500 Omani university theses, manuscripts, publications, maps of the Sultanate and the world, and other documents.

The Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University presented His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah with a copy of the Holy Quran transcribed by Hamoud bin Rashid bin Amer Al Riyami at the Quranic school in Sayq during the reign of Sultan Turki bin Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi.

His Highness, Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi wrote in the centre's guestbook the following: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, we would like to thank the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, and members of their team at Sultan Qaboos University for the warm welcome and comprehensive explanation they provided. If anything, all of this represents love and warmth for every seeker of knowledge. As the poet once said, compassion is the only thing that matters in a community where people are eager for knowledge. ' We'd like to return to the university and explore all of its faculties."

During the visit, Sheikh Sultan and Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi were accompanied by Dr Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harrasi, Omani Minister of Information; Mohammed Bin Nakhira Al Dhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman; Abdullah Al Owais, Head of the Department of Culture; and Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Protocol Department.
