Sharjah24 - AFP: More than 10,000 people gather to attend the 2023 Pokemon World Championships in Yokohama, Japan. Some 2000 contestants from about 50 countries will fight for the world champion title in the card and video games events, competing for prizes totalling $1 million.
Erika Goka, Pokemon fan from Japan stated, "There are very few occasions like this one for people who love Pokemon across the whole world to come together, and it’s also the first time it’s happening in Japan. I’m really happy I could come."
Commenting also on this, Ajay Sridhar, Pokemon trading card game competitor from New York, US, "It’s the competition, it’s the community, it’s all of the effort they’ve put into events like these that make it a really big deal. I’ve made a lot of my friends through the game."
