Sharjah Ruler appoints Bodour Al Qasimi AUS's BOT head

Sharjah24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, according to the Emiri decree No. (2) of 1999, regarding the establishment of the Sharjah Executive Council, and Decree-Law No. (3) of 2023 regarding the reorganisation of the American University of Sharjah, direct forming AUS’s Board of Trustees, headed by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi
The board members are:

1. Sheikh Sultan Sooud Al Qasimi, founder of the Barjeel Art Foundation.

2. Dr. Nawal Khalifa Al Hosani, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

3. Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, Former President of the Federal National Council.

4. Mohamed Al Abbar, Founder of Emaar Company.

5. Dr. Susan Mumm, Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah, "ex officio."

6. Dr. Gong Quihang, President of Peking University.

7. Bedour Al Raqbani, Director and Founder of Kalamati Center.

8. Abdulfattah Sharaf, Chairman of the Board of Directors of HSBC Bank Middle East.

9. Mohammed Al Huraimel Al Shamsi, Executive Director - Head of UK Investment Programme, Mubadala.

10. Chaouki T. Abdallah, Executive Vice President for Research (EVPR) at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

11. Dr. Daniele Struppa, President of Chapman University.

12. Ahmad Abu Eideh, CEO of Invest Bank.

13. Abhijit Choudhury, Founder and CEO of Athena Advisory Limited.


The membership term shall be three years, starting from the date of issuance, renewable for a similar period or multiple periods. The board shall continue its duties at the end of its term until a new one is formed. Those whose membership term has expired can be re-appointed.

This decision is effective immediately from the date of its issuance. The concerned authorities shall implement it, each in its jurisdiction, and it shall be published in the Official Gazette.
