Sharjah 24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued Emiri Decree No. (52) of 2023, regarding the formation of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC).
The Decree stipulated that the SMC be formed under the chairmanship of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and the membership of:
1. His Excellency Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Media City - Free Zone Authority (Shams).
2. His Excellency Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA).
3. His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB).
4. His Excellency Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansoori, Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC).
5. His Excellency Rashid Abdullah Al Obed, Director of the Sharjah Media City - Free Zone Authority (Shams).
6. His Excellency Salem Ali Hamad Al Ghaithi, Director of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA).
7. Her Excellency Alya Mohammed Bu Ganem Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB).
The term of membership in the council shall be four years, which may be extended for a similar period or periods, starting from its first meeting. The council continues to conduct its work at the end of its term until a new council is appointed, and those whose membership term has expired may be re-appointed.
