Sharjah 24: Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah directed the Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources to resume hiring people above the age of 30. This has to do with the fact that the department misapplied the law issued by His Highness in 2018 concerning the Social Security Fund and stopped hiring those above 30 years old.

His Highness’s comments and directives came through an intervention he made via Sharjah Broadcasting Authority’s Direct Line, presented by Mohammed Khalaf, Director General of the authority.

His Highness said in the interview that he was listening to the caller to the programme, Umm Saeed, from the city of Kalba, who asked how She has been applying since 2008 and until now she hasn’t been employed.
Then he explained," I issued this law in 2018, and it makes it clear that each eligible person between the ages of 18 and 60 should be employed; no specific period of employment has been stated. However, in practise, this law has been misinterpreted and has not been applied in the manner intended by the law; the Human Resources Directorate has stopped hiring those over the age of 30.”

Applications
"We also face the problem of 'a lot of job applications,' because our incomes are good. In Sharjah, we work only four days a week, and we provide maternity leave, a yearly leave of sixty days, and a fair standard of living," remarked His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah.

A Sharjah University graduate may anticipate a monthly salary of 25,000 dirhams, as well as a housing allowance and other benefits. The employment process for the Sharjah Police and Civil Defence, as well as other universities and institutions, is still ongoing, and the final tally of individuals employed will be announced before the end of the year, thank God.

Retired seniors
"It is well known that salaries in the Emirate of Sharjah have increased and adjustments have been made, but we have retirees from before these increases who receive a monthly retirement salary of about 12,000 dirhams, while new retirees receive a retirement salary of 17 thousand, and when both groups go to the market, they buy their basic needs at fixed prices, such as bread and others, of the same value, so the old retiree will not get a special reduction, and accordingly I raised their pension salaries." His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi went on to say."

We solved this group's issue, and then another group came along: federal agency retirees. We raised their pensions to match those of local institution pensioners.

9511 individuals in 27 categories
According to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, "We have 9,511 individuals in the Emirate of Sharjah who receive assistance from the Department of Social Services, and it is not sufficient for them to live a decent life. They are divided into 27 categories, and the widows receive assistance worth 2000 dirhams, and it is not enough for them."

His Highness continued, "We help them out, just as we help the divorced women, people with disabilities, the unemployed, the sick, the retired person whose pension isn't enough to support his family, orphaned children, adult orphans who need money, and divorced men with special issues like mental illness, addiction, or imprisonment. Who pays for their kids? Likewise, among the 27 categories, we have the elderly who receive assistance from the Ministry of Community Development, where a man and a woman receive 8400 dirhams!

Sultan's heart beats with love and devotion

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, said at the end of the remarks: "We ask God to forgive us if we left out any, and God willing, by addressing the situation of these individuals, we will build up the good society, which finds for itself a decent life, a home to live in, and a stable, cohesive family wrapped around each other.

God willing, we pray for the prosperity of all of our people and the health of all of our loved ones. With thanks to God, His Highness said, "The spirit of community has been alive and pulsing in our hearts from childhood. When I was a college student in Cairo, I composed the following:

One lies, bound to a bed, another dying,
A paralysed toiling for sustenance to children.

A palm date, a loaf, and a fish,
Yet, people are laughing, unworried.

Alas, my country, alas regretfully

And a young man aimlessly wandering on streets,
Left behind crippled mother and father, and sisters

Lost in gambling, cannabis, and intoxicants,
He made his way to those bars.

Wish he had been perished before he was born,
He left the house without mercy.

Alas, my country, alas regretfully
