The United Arab Emirates' national anthem was played to announce the official kick off of the ceremony, which followed by the reading of verses from the Holy Quran. Sharjah Crown Prince and the audience then watched an introductory video presentation about the award, and then Salem Youssef Al Qaseer, the chairman of the Sharjah Award for Public Finance Board of Trustees, gave a speech in which he said: " We are pleased to honour today a group of winners, There were 17 categories at the second Sharjah Award for Public Finance, which attracted a notable number of Arab participants".
The award is considered to be the first of its kind in the Arab world, and it aims to enable the financial sector to be a contributor to sustainable development in the Arab countries by continuously assessing adherence to standards of excellence related to the financial sector at the level of government institutions in the Arab countries and enhancing the level of competition.
In response, Dr. Nasser Al Hatlan Al Qahtani, Director General of the Arab Organisation for Administrative Development affiliated with the League of Arab States and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award, gave a speech in which he bestowed blessings on the recipients of the award, who were representatives of Arab countries, describing it as a significant and inspiring step forward for all, highlighting the atmosphere of vitality and creativity that pervaded the competition in the previous period. The Vice-Chairman of the Award's Board of Trustees concluded his speech by thanking everyone who has helped to make this award a universal honour for all Arabs.
In a speech, Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director of the Central Finance Department and Secretary General of the Award, stated that the award represents a qualitative improvement by translating the Sharjah government's directives based on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on the significance and necessity of adopting initiatives aimed at developing the capability of institutions and individuals and qualifying them to play a vital and pivotal role in supporting the economy and investing money to serve people and sustain a decent life for them.
The award included 17 different categories, containing 9 institutional categories and 8 individual categories. The second edition witnessed a remarkable Arab turnout, with the participation of 14 Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates, the Arab Republic of Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, Sudan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, Kingdom of Bahrain, Qatar, Algeria, Syria and Iraq.
Sharjah Crown Prince honored the winners in various categories, where the category of the distinguished entity in public finance, the Directorate of Administrative and General Affairs of the Moroccan Ministry of Economy and Finance won, and in the category of the distinguished entity in electronic financial systems and applications, the Department of Finance in the Government of Dubai won first place. As for the distinguished entity category in the management of financial projects, it was won by the Egyptian Tax Authority, and in the category of the distinguished entity in financial innovation, it was won by the Sudanese-Jordanian Al-Jazira Bank from Sudan. As for the category of the distinguished entity in control, auditing and risk management, it went to the Royal Jordanian Geographical Center, while it won the award for the entity category distinguished in providing financial banking services, the Eskan Bank from the Kingdom of Bahrain, and in the category of distinguished entity in managing pension funds, the Abu Dhabi Pension Fund won first place.
The Crown Prince also honored the winners in the individual categories, namely: Bassem bin Muhammad Al-Qabtan, with the first place in the category of the distinguished Arab financial manager, and Nawal Ahmed Abdul Qadir Al-Bakri won the second place, Maryam Ali Al-Marri came in the third place, and the first place for the category of the distinguished Arab budget manager token by Mona Bejman Al-Marzouqi, and the second palace won by Haitham Abdel-Al Abdel-Moati. The third place went to Nisreen Abdel-Majid Habayeb, and Ayman Yassin Mahmoud won the first place in the distinguished Arab tax manager category.
As for the category of Distinguished Arab Account Manager, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Barakat won the first place, and Muhib Jibrail Gad came in second place, and Ahmed Jamil Thaminat came third. In the category of Distinguished Arab Electronic Financial Systems Manager, Maqrani Hayat came in first place, and Osama Youssef Abdel-Maqsoud Youssef came in second place. As for the distinguished Arab Procurement Manager, Noha Taher Abul-Gheit won the first place, and at the level of Distinguished Arab Financial Controller, Maryam Khalifa Dasmal Al-Marri achieved the position. Dr. Nashwa Sharaf Al-Din came in second place, while Iyad Omar Al-Rawadhiya came third. In the distinguished Arab accountant category, Ahmed Abdel-Hamid Muhammad Al-Salamouni won the first place, and Walaa Rabih Abdel-Azim Ahmed won the second place, while Lana Abdel-Rahim Salam came in the third place.
Sharjah Crown Prince honored the award's sponsors and strategic partners, as well as the chairman and members of the award's board of trustees.
The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Muhammad bin Saud Al Qasimi, Head of the Central Finance Department, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, Head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler, and Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Suburbs and villages affairs, Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, CEO of the real estate sector at Sharjah Asset Management Company, and a number of senior officials, heads and directors of local departments, representatives of the financial sector in the country, and participants from various Arab countries.
