Sharjah's ruler awards winners of 32nd Theatre Days

Sharjah 24: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the closing ceremony of Sharjah Theatrical Days 32 today, Monday evening, at the Cultural Palace in Sharjah.
During the opening ceremony, Jury Chairman Dr. Mashhour Mustafa gave a report in which he thanked His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for his unceasing interest in and support of the performing arts and the playwrights. The committee also made a number of recommendations in its report.

He praised the successful session and expressed gratitude to the Department of Culture for organising and hosting the events.


His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi honoured the winners of the Sharjah Theatre Days Awards in its 32nd session and awarded the Sharjah National Theatre the award for the finest integrated theatrical performance for their play "Zaghanbut".


The award for best theatrical directing went to artist Muhammad Al-Amiri for the play "Zaghanbut," while the award for best playwright went to writer Ismail Abdullah for the same play.


The artist, Abdullah Masoud, received the award for the best starring role for his performance in the play "The Executioner," while the artist Budour Muhammad got the award for a starring role for her role in the play "Tafsir Bint Yaqut."


Artist Saeed Salem received the award for best performance for the play "Maiyadir", while artist Abeer Al Jasmi got the award for best performance for her performance in the play "List of the Premature".


Abdullah Al-Khadim was named Best Promising Actor for his performance in the play "The Song of the Good Man," while Sumaya Al-Shuwaihi was named Most Promising Actress for her role in the play "Tafsir Bint Yaqut."
The artist Mohammed Al-Amiri won the award for the best decoration for the play "Zaghnabut," and the award for the best lighting was won by the artist Majid Al-Muaini for the play "Zaghnabut," while the award for the best sound and musical effects was won by the artist Ibrahim Al-Amiri for the play "Zaghnabut."

His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, handed the Sharjah Awards for Playwriting to the winners. The Omani writer Osama bin Zayed Al Shaqsi obtained the first award for his play "Waiting for the Family", the Kuwaiti writer Othman Ali Al Shatti won the second place for his play "Nothingness", and the Omani writer Nasser Mohammed Al-Kindi won the third place for his play "The Lost Death".
