Sharjah 24: The Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command, represented by the Investigation and Traffic Control Department, succeeded, within only 4 hours, in apprehending a truck driver of Asian nationality who ran over and killed instantly another of Arab nationality on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road at dawn on Saturday, and fled from the scene towards one of the emirates of the country.
Brigadier General Ahmed Al Sum Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said a report was received by the Central Operations Room of Ras Al Khaimah Police at 3.05am on Saturday, stating that a truck driver of an Arab nationality had died on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in a hit-and-run accident, and the driver of truck fled the scene.
He added that police patrols and national ambulances rushed to the site of the accident, and it was found that the deceased had parked his truck on the side of the road and stepped out. The truck driven by the Asian driver hit the parked truck, which then ran over the victim, killing him on the spot. The driver fled the scene.
Brigadier General Al Naqbi indicated that the search and investigation team was able to determine the destination of the truck and its location in one of the regions of the Emirate of Sharjah, and with coordination with the competent authorities in the Sharjah Police, the driver was arrested and referred to the competent authorities, to take the necessary legal measures against him.
