Sultan bin Ahmed witnesses graduation of EFLI’s 2nd batch

Sharjah 24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), witnessed, on Wednesday, the graduation ceremony of the second batch of students participating in the Emirati Future Leaders Initiative (EFLI), at the UOS’s Student Forum.
Dr. Maher Omar, Director of the Institute of Leadership in Higher Education, delivered a speech during the graduation ceremony, in which he dealt with the goals of the programme that come within the framework of the UOS’s strategy towards graduating future Emirati leaders. 



The programme included a package of activities and specialised courses for a period of 6 months to develop skills, and prepare participants for leadership roles in various fields.

Dr. Maher Omar pointed out that the programme includes multiple activities prepared according to systematic plans that seek to enhance and encourage students participating in critical thinking and social analysis. In addition to touching on various topics such as communication, strategic planning, community development, leadership skills, time management, professional development planning, along with holding practical sessions, panel discussions, and a training camp for leadership skills.



Maryam Al Dari and Mahra Al Salami, two graduates of the first batch of the programme, gave a presentation discussing their experience and the extent to which they benefit from the programme in their lives. In addition to the great contribution of the programme in terms of developing the leadership skills of graduates, methods of solving problems, building experiences, and adapting to various environments. 

The graduate students gave presentations of their proposed projects to contribute to the growth of society in the country. 



The first group consisting of Mira Omar Al Barghouti, Bodour Hassan Al Ali and Hessa Saif Al Mahrezi, presented their project on leadership for a sustainable life, with the aim of encouraging sustainability in society. The group presented a proposal "Sustainability", which is a virtual platform that works to create a link between all sustainable products and other services that contribute to preserving a rich environment and a sustainable future.

The second group consisting of Moza Saif Al Suwaidi, Sheikha Ahmed Al Zaabi, Khawla Abdulqader, Amna Hassan Al Ali, Hessa Saeed Al Mazroui, and Saeed Rashid Al Ketbi, presented the project on promoting creativity through nature, with the aim of encouraging community members to find innovative solutions through meditation. The group also presented a proposal for an educational programme to be added to the school curricula, to create an interactive environment between students and the surrounding nature, which contributes to finding solutions to the daily challenges facing society, in addition to increasing the creativity of students.



The third group, which consisted of Amna Omar Al Mansouri, Shamma Khaled, Maryam Rashed, and Fatima Abdelaziz, presented the project on appropriate design for the work environment to enhance occupational safety, with the aim raising awareness of the importance of safety in the work environment. The group proposed an awareness campaign aimed at educating employees about health problems resulting from incorrect sitting postures and how to avoid them.



At the end of the ceremony, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi honoured the graduates. In addition to inspecting the exhibition of the students, and taking memorial photos with them.
