Sharjah24 - WAM: The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has handed over a shipment of food and children’s supplies to the Maternity and Children Hospital in Latakia, Syrian, as part of the recovery and rehabilitation phase of the Operation “The Gallant Knight 2”, aimed at alleviating the impact of the recent quake that hit the country.
Mohamed Khamis Al-Kaabi, head of the ERC delegation in Syria, handed over the shipment to Dr. Ahmed Ghazi Al-Farra, Director General of the Maternity and Children Hospital in Latakia.
The shipment that was delivered today is a significant support for the hospital's ability to care for children, said Al-Kaabi.
“Through our presence in the field, we've got a first-hand knowledge of the hospital's basic needs for various types of infant formula, as well as diapers," he added, stressing on the hospital's severe shortage of essential supplies.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Ghazi Al-Farra hailed the efforts of the UAE through the ERC, which, he said, is making a clear and tangible effort on the ground since the onset of the earthquake until today.
"The support the hospital has received today is a significant addition that relieves the pressure the hospital is under at the moment," he added.
