Black and white enhances sense of reality

Sharjah24: Not all black and white photos we see are old, or pre-coloured photo printing, as it is a technique that is still preferred by some professional photographers who want to add realistic touches to the subjects.

Xposure includes a number of exhibitions that adopt this technique and give the images an aesthetic touch, by stripping the images of colours and preserving their core messages, creating a different vibe for the receivers.

The festival allows viewing images with this technology, such as the exhibition "Wild Cats in Black and White" by the French photographer Laurent Baheux, and the Moroccan photographer Souhayl A, whose exhibition deals with scenes from daily life in the streets of Paris.

Black and white photography requires a high level of experience and the ability to employ the elements of light, shape and shadow that creates the effects and the realistic feeling that enhances the image’s sense of colourless.
