Sharjah24 - WAM: Yoo Jehseung, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the UAE, praised the strong relations between the two countries and highlighted the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant as a major success story of international cooperation in the delivery of the clean energy transition.
Commenting on the visit to Barakah by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Yoon Suk Yeol, President of the Republic of Korea, Ambassador Yoo Jehseung said, “The UAE and the Republic of Korea have held special, strategic relations for many decades, working together on a range of highly advanced sectors and industries. Nuclear energy is at the forefront of the collaboration between the two nations with ENEC and KEPCO working together for more than 14 years to develop a world-class nuclear energy plant, as part of the wider UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme.
He added, “We are proud to see today the Barakah Plant playing a major role in generating abundant clean electricity for the UAE, whilst rapidly decarbonising the power sector and supporting the country on its Net Zero journey."
“We look forward to strengthening the contributions of both countries to the global clean energy transition by establishing a comprehensive cooperative relationship in the nuclear field, including joint nuclear power plants projects overseas and completion of the ecosystem for nuclear industry,” Yoo Jehseung concluded.
