Sharjah24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, said that the UAE will continue supporting all efforts and initiatives aimed at promoting tolerance, coexistence, and mutual respect between peoples around the world.
He made this statement today while receiving Monsignor Yoannis Lahzi Gaid, Personal Secretary of Pope Francis and Chairman of the Human Fraternity Foundation, and Monsignor Crispin Dobell, Chargé d'Affaires of the Vatican State Embassy in the UAE.
During the meeting, all sides discussed a new archaeological discovery on Al Siniya Island in Umm Al Qaiwain announced by the emirate’s Department of Tourism and Antiquities, which is a historic Christian monastery dating back to between the sixth and eighth centuries AD.
Monsignor Gaid commended the efforts of the Umm Al Qaiwain Government, represented by the Department of Tourism and Antiquities, and the important discoveries it has made, adding that the new discovery highlights the religious tolerance that prevailed in the country ages ago.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Head of the Emiri Court; Sheikh Ahmed bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain; Sheikh Majid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Head of the Department of Tourism and Antiquities in Umm Al Qaiwain; Nasser Saeed Al Talay, Director of the Emiri Court; Rashid Mohammed Ahmed, Director of Protocols at the Emiri court: Colonel Dr. Ali bin Dhaen Al Ghafli, Director-General of the Office of the Minister of Interior; and a number of officials.
