Sharjah24: In cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah, Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Sharjah Branch, organised the Sustainability Day event on Tuesday at its Khorfakkan headquarters.
Dr. Amal Fawzy, head of the language unit at the academy, said that the event aimed to spread awareness of the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations, and how to implement them.
In statements to “Sharjah 24”, she added that the event included a special exhibition for the Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority, which included brochures introducing the goals and topics of marine sustainability, and samples of marine organisms from the eastern coast, including dolphin and turtle structures, and some shellfish and snails.
She explained that on the sidelines of the event, the academy's students reviewed some of their initiatives and projects, including the academy's sustainability guide, and a number of specialists gave lectures and introductory workshops on the foundations of preserving the marine environment.
