Sharjah 24 – KUNA: The death toll from Wednesday's devastating earthquake in Afghanistan has risen to 1,100 and the number of injured has risen to 1,600, said the Ministry of State for Disaster Management on Friday.
According to the Ministry of State for Disaster Management, more than 1,000 of the injured are in critical condition.

Account of victims and injured is increasing day by day, as some people are still trapped in the wreckage.

The number of houses destroyed in Paktia provinces has risen to 1,000. According to Afghan news channel TOLO news, a lot of victims are still under the debris and there is a shortage of food and water.

Moreover, at least five people were killed and more than 10 others injured as result of aftershock in the Giyan district of south eastern Paktika province of Afghanistan on Friday.

National Radio Television Spokesperson Ahmadullah Waseeq in a statement to media said that the aftershock occurred on Friday morning in which five people were killed and more than 10 injured.

Earlier, the disaster authorities ended the search in remote south eastern mountains of Paktia for survivors from the 6.1 magnitude earthquake. According to the US Geological Survey, the Friday earthquake is in almost exactly the same place of magnitude 4.3.
