Sharjah24 – Reuters: "Jurassic World: Dominion" roared to the top of the theatrical box office over the weekend in both North America and China.
Universal's latest dinosaur adventure grossed $143 million from more than 4,500 cinemas in its North American box office debut. That's according to Comscore.
In China, where cinemas partially reopened following a recent COVID outbreak, the film took $53 million in three days. That's according to data from consultancy Artisan Gateway.
Tom Cruise's popular jet-flying blockbuster "Top Gun: Maverick" stayed strong in second position at the
North American box office, adding $50 million in its third weekend in theaters.
For "Dominion," initial box office returns represent a slight decline in popularity.
In 2015, "Jurassic World" opened with $208 million and saw $1.6 billion global sales.
Its 2018 sequel, "Fallen Kingdom", opened with $148 million and scored $1.3 billion worldwide.
