Sharjah24 – Reuters: Three young white lions found a new home in the Caricuao Zoo in Venezuela's capital Caracas, where authorities hope they will encourage more visitors to the vast open-air facility.
The three lions, one female and two males are about two years old and weigh about 120 kilos (264 lbs). The lions arrived last week in Venezuela and remain in quarantine in large cages at the 636-hectare Caricuao Zoo in southwestern Caracas, Bernardo Pereira, manager of the Zoo's animal nutrition department told Reuters.

Pereira added that the lions, originally from South Africa, arrived from a zoo in the Czech Republic and are part of a joint effort by authorities to improve zoos and parks across the South American country.

The three lions will remain in quarantine until the end of June and then will be reinstated into bigger enclosures where tourists can see them.

With the three as-yet-unnamed lions, the Caricuao Zoo is now home to some 335 animals, from 36 different species including primates, felines, and reptiles.
