Sharjah24 – Reuters: British coin producer, The Royal Mint, unveiled its £5 coin on Monday (May 23) engraved with Prince William's portrait, in honour of the Duke of Cambridge's 40th birthday on June 21.
It marks the first time Prince William, who is second in line to the British throne, has appeared alone on an official coin.
Designed by Thomas T. Docherty, designer and engraver for The Royal Mint, the coin features William's portrait at a three-quarter angle, alongside the number 40 and an inscription on the edge reading "HRH The Duke of Cambridge".
The unveiling of the coin comes days before the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, set to kick off on June 2.
