Sharjah24 – Reuters: A rare 80.08 carats diamond and ruby ring by Chopard that Sotheby's estimated it could fetch $8 million, didn't find a buyer at Geneva's auction on Tuesday (May 10), the auction house said.
Sotheby’s estimated the ring between $7.5 and $9.6 million.
The stone is D Colour, the highest possible colour grading for white diamonds and it’s part of the only 2% Type IIa diamonds in the world.
Sotheby’s was also presenting a colourful Oscar Heyman & Brothers gem-set and diamond 'Birds in Flight' bracelet from 1927, decorated with tropical birds and floral sprigs, sold for $ 1.4 million, twice its estimated price.
