Sharjah 24 – AFP: Seventeen people have been killed in suspected terrorist attacks in northern Nigeria, where a more than decade-long insurgency has claimed tens of thousands of lives, sources said Thursday.
Around two dozen fighters dressed in military-like uniform and believed to be from the Daesh group sneaked on foot into Geidam town in Yobe state late on Wednesday, militia sources said.
Residents who saw the attackers mistook them for troops from a base in the town, said resident Babagana Kyari.
Geidam, close to the Niger border, has been repeatedly raided by the terrorists, including the military base where they killed troops and carted away weapons.
