Malaysians throng Ramadan food bazaars as Covid curbs lifted

April 05, 2022 / 10:32 AM
Sharjah24 – AFP: Ramadan food bazaars across Malaysia are teaming with people eager to get out-and-about and get their hands on tasty delights like 'nasi lemak' and 'satay', as Covid-19 restrictions barring large gatherings have been lifted.
Commenting on this, Mohamad Naim Mohideen Gany, Ramadan food market customer said, "This year's Ramadan is so good, because now all the restrictions are gone. So we are free to go out and we want to have fun for this Ramadan. "

He added, "So before Covid, this is now (the ambience) like before Covid. During Covid (the lockdowns), everything is restricted, we cannot go out as we want, we need to be, we need to distance ourselves. Right now, it's easing up, so we can have more people here."

Emma Hafez, Ramadan food market customer stated,

"This is only an annual thing, so it's special for Malaysians. That's why when it comes to the Ramadan bazaar, everyone will come in (here), regardless of what religion you are."
