Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, said that achieving food security, protecting natural resources and ensuring their sustainability, as well as countering the effects of climate change and prioritising sustainable development, are key foundations of the development process.
He made this statement while receiving Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment (MoCCAE), and her delegation, in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah.
During the meeting, Sheikh Saud was briefed on the ministry’s plans and programmes to protect the environment and natural resources, achieve food security and address the effects of climate change.
He also lauded the ministry’s efforts, and highlighted the importance of supporting the environmental and agricultural sectors, as well as ensuring the safety of natural systems and drafting legislations, policies and strategic programmes to address climate change.
