France eases Covid measures in schools from end of February

February 12, 2022 / 3:42 PM
Sharjah24 – AFP: The anti-Covid measures in schools will be eased after the winter holidays in France, with masks no longer required outdoors and the number of at-home tests required when there is a positive case reduced in primary schools, announces Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer.
Commenting on this, Jean-Michel Blanquer, French education minister said, "As you know, the health situation in the general population and in the school population is very much improved, even better than expected, if we look at the figures for 25 January, which represents a peak of the situation in schools, we had 167,000 cases per day, yesterday we were at 12,500 cases. "

The French education minister added, "What will be in place tomorrow is a system whereby, as soon as there is an infected child in a class, all the pupils in the class, as a family, will be asked to take an at-home test on the second day, on D2, and this is the only test that will be required from February 28."

Jean-Michel Blanquer concluded, "From 21 February, therefore, including for the zone that will be back in school then and that will continue to apply the three tests, the sworn statement will no longer be necessary, we believe that people are now accustomed to these self-testing kits that did not exist in 2021."
