French motorists hit by diesel and gasoline price surge

January 20, 2022 / 9:31 AM
Sharjah24 – AFP: Driven by rising oil prices, fuel prices in France have been rising from record to record since the beginning of the year, with a litre of diesel fuel exceeding 1.60 euros for the first time. The trend is likely to continue, as tensions on the energy markets remain high.
Commenting on this, one of the residents, earning minimum wage said, "I feel disgusted because it's too expensive. It's too expensive! Whether it's gasoline or diesel, it's become too expensive. Wages are not going up, but the price of gasoline, the price of living. And what do you want us to do? We have to drive our cars! It's not just this gas pump. It's all the gas pumps."

Another resident stressed, "It's a complex problem. But of course it's too expensive for some budgets."
