Sharjah24 – Reuters: A group of Palestinians at a mosaic centre in Jericho continue to work to revive a heritage that their ancestors have known for more than 2,000 years.
Mosaics used to adorn the houses of Palestinians and have now become an essential part of historic landmarks in many Palestinian cities.

Palestinians working in the centre usually use glass or natural stones in nearly 24 colours usually found in quarries, mountains and valleys.

The mosaic workshop is located close to the archaeological Hisham Palace, which includes the largest mosaic panel.

Osama Hamdan founded the mosaic centre as a non-profit charitable association that seeks to protect and promote the Palestinian cultural heritage and build a team to make replicas and renovate historic mosaics.

Many Palestinians working in the centre found their pleasure in putting together colourful mosaic pieces to create astonishing works of art. They say it requires effort, patience and concentration.
