Sharjah24 – AFP: Libyans gather at the Martyrs' Square in the centre of Libya's capital Tripoli to mark the country's 70th independence day. Libyans were meant to elect a president Friday hoping to help end years of turmoil, but the poll was delayed amid intense rivalries, UN failures and legal issues.
Commenting on this, Zainab, teacher said, "Of course, our celebration of the 70th anniversary of the glorious independence of Libya is unfortunate, because we had hoped that elections would take place today on December 24, which we were unable to reach."
She added, "There are supposed to be elections every four years so no other dictator would rule and make us live another forty years of ignorance, retardation and disease."
