France on target for 20m Covid booster jabs by Christmas

December 15, 2021 / 8:23 AM
Sharjah24 – AFP: France's target of 20 million Covid booster jabs by Christmas will be reached "probably a few days ahead of schedule," Health Minister Olivier Véran tells French deputies.
Commenting on this, Olivier Véran, French health minister said, "I have set a very ambitious target, Mr. Deputy: 20 million booster jabs by Christmas. I can tell you that we will do the 20 million boosters before Christmas and that we will be able to vaccinate all those who need to be vaccinated in time, probably a few days ahead of time, which will enable us to intensify our booster policy. The latest data on the Omicron variant show that if the two-dose vaccination is perhaps a little less effective, it is still very effective, at least 70% on serious cases, according to the latest data, and with the booster, i.e. with the third dose, we have every reason to hope that the French will remain protected in the long term. There is an urgent need to move forward, we stand ready."
