China refutes Blinken's 'aggressive actions' remarks

December 15, 2021 / 7:31 AM
Sharjah24 – AFP: China responds after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday urged China to cease "aggressive actions" in the Asia-Pacific, saying that the US's attempts to "provoke splits and misunderstandings" will not work in the Asia Pacific region. China also says that the "day of reckoning" will come for the US military, after the Pentagon said that no US troops or officials would face disciplinary action for a drone strike in August which killed 10 Afghan civilians, including seven children in Kabul.
Wang Wenbin, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said, "I would like to point out that the US, on the one hand, dramatically plays up the so-called 'China threat', while claiming to have no intention to start a conflict with China on the other. This kind of self-contradictory practice does not accord with the spirit of the [recent] meeting between our two heads of state, and will struggle to gain approval from the countries in the region."

The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson added, "If the US, as it claims, really wants to play a genuine role in the peaceful development of the Asia-Pacific region, then it should sincerely respect the regional cooperative structure centred around ASEAN, and not draw ideological lines, form cliques, or provoke group confrontations. It should respect the common efforts of China and ASEAN to uphold peace and stability in the South China Sea, and not frequently send fleets and planes into that sea, flaunt its military strength, or stir up trouble. "

"The US's attempts to provoke splits and misunderstandings, and incite antagonism and confrontation, are not welcome anywhere in the world, and will certainly not work in the Asia-Pacific region," Wang Wenbin, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson also added.
