Sharjah24 – Reuters: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and members of the House and Senate joined the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday evening (Dec. 1).
Nicknamed “Sugar Bear,” the 84-foot white fir that comes from the Six Rivers National Forest in California, has been decorated with 15,000 ornaments made by the state’s children to reflect this year’s theme, “Six Rivers, Many Peoples, One Tree.”

The tree which took two weeks to make the more than 3,000-mile trek to Washington, D.C. arrived on Capitol Hill last month by way of an elongated trailer bed.

Last year's tree lighting ceremony was held virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic.
