Sharjah24 – Reuters: The largest collection of Fabergé Easter Eggs in 25 years goes on display at London's Victoria and Albert Museum on Saturday (November 20).
Showcasing a variety of over 200 objects, "Fabergé in London: Romance to Revolution" takes visitors through the story of the legendary goldsmith Carl Fabergé, shining a light on his little-known British connection.
Split into three main sections, the sparkling exhibition culminates in the "Faberge's Legacy" section featuring 15 of his famous Easter Eggs. Only 50 were ever made, said McCarthy and this is the largest collection on public display for over 25 years, according to a press release.
The collection includes several eggs which have never before been shown in the UK, including the magnificent Moscow Kremlin Egg.
As was Fabergé's tradition, several of the treasures contain a "surprise" - such as a gold peacock or an ivory elephant, which McCarthy believed adds to the "childlike whimsy and joy" of his work.
McCarthy said he hopes the exhibition will give visitors a deeper understanding of Fabergé beyond what they already know.
"Fabergé in London: Romance to Revolution" is open at the V&A until May 8, 2022.
