Sharjah24 – AFP: French president Emmanuel Macron hosts US Vice-President Kamala Harris at the Élysée Palace. Harris is visiting Paris to seal a reconciliation after the crisis between Paris and Washington over the Australian submarine contract.
Commenting on this, Emmanuel Macron, French president stated, "And also for these bilateral exchanges and your presence for the conference on Libya that we will hold on Friday afternoon. I am confident that France will offer you a busy programme and I am therefore extremely grateful for your presence, but more than that, you are welcome in Paris and in France. I thank you this morning for having honoured your presence in a place of French research and excellence, and I know the intimate links that bind you to this discipline."
For her part, Kamala Harris, US Vice-President pointed out, "We will discuss a lot of issues, including one of the markers, sadly, of this new era, which is the pandemic. But creating, then, an opportunity for us to continue the work we have done since Professor Pasteur at the institute where I was yesterday, around scientific research, the work we can do together being prompted by the tragedy of this pandemic, around a shared commitment for preparedness for the next pandemic."
