Sharjah24 – Reuters: To celebrate the unprecedented success of South Korean drama "Squid Game", Netflix put on a special screening in Hollywood on Monday (November 8).
The show about impoverished people playing a deadly game to win a fortune has been Netflix's most popular show ever, according to reports.
The show has hit headlines for numerous reasons, from controversial Halloween costumes to 'Squid Game' themed protests outside the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow.
"Squid Game" has hit number one on Netflix in 80 countries and has been seen already by an estimated 111 million viewers, according to reports.
The series' success echoes that of 2020 Oscar winner 'Parasite', which also showed the gap between the wealthy and the poor.
But the one question most viewers want to know is, will there be a second season?
"So we are in the talks for season two. It's all in my head. I have the basic storyline, the broad plan, so we're in the brainstorming stages," said Writer director Hwang Dong-hyuk. He added "I'm going to go ahead and say there will be a second season but as for when I cannot tell you now."
"Squid Game" is currently streaming on Netflix.
