Hessa Buhumaid participates in 'Make-A-Wish' event

Sharjah 24: Her Excellency Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development participated in the “Make A Wish” event for two Emirati siblings as part of a series of granting wishes events that are organised by the Ministry, in collaboration with Make-A-Wish® UAE and hosted by the GCC Pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai to achieve the wishes of 12 children of various nationalities in the UAE, two children each month over 6 months from October 2021 to March 2022.
The event comes as part of joint events organised by the Ministry of Community Development and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai based on the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides during the past period.

Make-A-Wish Foundation is given unlimited support of the wife of Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Advisor to His Highness the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikha Shaikha Bint Saif Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President and Lifetime Patron of Make-A-Wish® UAE to achieve its goals and carry out a noble humanitarian mission by fulfilling the wishes of children who are suffering from critical diseases that may threaten their lives.

The event was organised in the presence of Hamdan Karam Al Kaabi, Board Member of Make-A-Wish® UAE, Hani Al Zubaidi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Foundation with the participation of the parents of the two children, whose wishes were fulfilled by giving them smart electronic devices.

On this occasion, Her Excellency Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development emphasised the importance of cooperation and development integration between the Ministry and Make-A-Wish® UAE to provide children patients a stimulating hope to continue their treatment journey, alleviate their suffering, and increasing their happiness and optimism towards reality and the future. Her Excellency noted that achieving the dreams and wishes of these children at Expo 2020 Dubai reflects the vision of communication, integration and the future sought to be embodied by international exhibitions

Her Excellency noted the humanitarian role and positive societal impact of Make-A-Wish initiative to achieve happiness and make a smile among children’s patients as part of the efforts and initiatives of all the community entities and their societal commitment responsibility towards others. 

Furthermore, Excellency Khalid Al Sheikh, Commissioner-General of the GCC Pavilion at EXPO 2020 Dubai: “The event aims to highlight the GCC countries' attention to children patients wishing them a speedy recovery and achieves one of the main objectives of Expo 2020 Dubai. Excellency Khalid pointed out that organising such events in partnership between the GCC pavilion and the UAE Ministry of Community Development and Make-A-Wish® UAE reflects the extent of successful and prosperous cooperation between the GCC Council, ministries and institutions in the GCC countries, thanking the Ministry for its constant and continuous support to the GCC pavilion”.

Hani Al Zubaidi, CEO of Make-A-Wish® UAE thanked Her Excellency the Minister of Community Development for her continued support to the foundation's humanitarian strategy and keenness to provide the best support and empowerment to charitable associations. Organising such humanitarian initiatives at Expo 2020 Dubai highlight the UAE humanitarian giving process and its efforts to achieve and spread happiness among all the members of the community.

Al Zubaidi, also thanked the Commissioner-General of the GCC Pavilion for hosting this humanitarian charity initiative and appreciated the council's efforts in demonstrating the rich heritage of the GCC countries and its efforts to achieve the well-being of its citizens and contribute to the spread of happiness and in various aspects of the community life of the citizens of these countries and residents of their territories.

Make-A-Wish Foundation is one of the civil society foundations supporting the Ministry's efforts in its enhanced vision of sustainable development, by striving to achieve the happiness of children and patients, meet their dreams and wishes, thereby promoting positive spirit and community responsibility, and supporting efforts to improve the wellbeing of individuals across society.
