France is in 'fourth wave' of Covid-19 pandemic

July 20, 2021 / 7:42 AM
Sharjah24 – AFP: "We are seeing a faster wave, a steeper slope than all the previous ones," says French government spokesperson Gabriel Attal, adding that "we have entered a fourth wave of the virus."
Gabriel Attal, French government spokesperson said, "We have entered a fourth wave of the virus, and although we are starting from a low number of contaminations, the dynamics of the epidemic are extremely strong. We are seeing a faster wave, a steeper slope than all the previous ones. We need to do everything we can now to ensure that this wave is not also more devastating. We are starting from the bottom but this wave can rise very quickly and it can rise very high. The incidence rate in our country continues to explode, now reaching 86 per 100,000 inhabitants nationally, according to figures corrected for the 14 July holiday, an increase of almost 125% in one week. An increase of this type, I would say, so strong, so sudden, is something we have never experienced since the beginning of the epidemic in our country."
