Sharjah24 - AFP: With shops closed and the streets deserted, some 90,000 residents of the indigenous town of San Martin Jilotepeque in western Guatemala remained confined until Sunday in an attempt to curb the spread of covid-19, which is on the rise in the Central American country.
Bartolome Chocoj, San Martin Jilotepeque mayor said, "The decision was taken to partially close the municipality for two days with the implementation of a sanitary corridor, then from Thursday until Sunday a total sanitary corridor where intra-community mobility is restricted."

San Martin Jilotepeque mayor  added, "We know of cases where people who had Covid, cases that were never registered, cases that were never referred to a doctor. What does that mean? That they were latent risks or are cases that occurred in the street that can represent the contagion of other people."
