Sharjah24 – AFP: The Czech Republic will reopen its borders to EU and Serbian citizens on June 21, the government announced Monday as the country recovers after being hit hard by the Covid pandemic.
Those arriving will have to show proof of vaccination or of a past coronavirus infection, or provide a negative coronavirus test result.

A similar regime is already in place for citizens of EU members Austria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia on a bilateral basis.

The Czech government also raised the limit on audiences at cultural events to 1,000 people indoors and 2,000 people outdoors.

In schools, children and teachers will be allowed to stop wearing face masks in the classroom in most regions.

The Czech Republic topped the world's tally of Covid-19 deaths and infections per capita for months early this year.

The EU member of 10.7 million people has seen 1.66 million confirmed Covid-19 cases and 30,164 deaths.

But the daily infection numbers have been falling steadily, with fewer than 500 new cases per day over the past week.

Czech shops, restaurants, cinemas, theatres and concert halls have been open for weeks, although face masks must still be worn.
