Sharjah24 – Reuters: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate, visited the European Marine Energy Centre in the Orkney Islands on Tuesday (May 25) as part of the royal couple's tour of Scotland.

The test and research center in the Scottish archipelago is studying the wave and tidal power development, attracting developers from around the globe.

The royal couple was briefed about Orkney's drive for the carbon zero targets and creating hydrogen power.

A boat took them on a visit to a tidal machine in one of the facilities spread across the Orkney islands.

Later they attended the opening ceremony of a new hospital in Orkney, the Balfour in Kirkwall.
