Sharjah24 – Reuters: Some of the biggest stars in music turned out on Sunday (May 23) for the annual Billboard Music Awards in Los Angeles.
The Weeknd was the big winner of the night, taking home a total of ten awards for his album 'After Hours'.
With 16 nominations, The Weeknd had already won seven awards before the awards show even aired on Sunday.
Late rapper Pop Smoke, who was killed in a shooting last year, was named Top New Artist, Top Rap Artist and Top Male Rap Artist. His album 'Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon' won Top Rap Album.
Before the broadcast, South Korean megaband BTS had already won three Billboard Music Awards for Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist and Top Social Artist before the group also took home Top Selling Song for "Dynamite."
Taylor Swift won Top Female Artist, beating out Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion.
According to organisers, the nominees and winners are chosen on fan interactions, sales, streaming and radio airplay.
