Sharjah24- KUNA: Japan reported 1,720 new cases of the coronavirus on Thursday, raising the nation's total number to 462,102, the health ministry and local authorities said.
The country's cumulative death toll rose by 20 to 8,952. Tokyo added 394 new infections, topping 300 for the third straight day, which brought the total cases in the Japanese capital to 118,855. The tallies exclude those who were linked to a virus-hit cruise ship in February 2020. On Sunday, the government lifted the COVID-19 state of emergency for the Tokyo metropolitan area emergency, which was introduced in January. But it maintains the request that restaurants and some other establishments close early .
