Johnson hails efficacy of AstraZeneca vaccine on Scotland trip

January 29, 2021 / 10:49 AM
Sharjah24 - AFP: Visiting the Valneva vaccine factory in Livingston, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson defends the efficacy of the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid vaccine in those over the age of 65 following the move by German regulators to only approve it for younger recipients. Johnson spoke on a trip to Scotland in which he promoted the UK union, saying Scottish people wanted to focus on rebuilding together after Covid rather than on an independence referendum.
Commenting on this, Boris Johnson, UK Prime Minister (said, "I think that the MHRA, our own authorities, have made it very clear that they think the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine is very good and efficacious and gives a high degree of protection after just one dose and even more after two doses, and the evidence that they've seen, that they've supplied, is that they think that it is effective across all age groups."

The UK Prime Minister continued, "It's great to see everything that Scotland is contributing to the national effort, it's quite amazing, and I think what people want to see is us bouncing back more strongly together. I don't see the advantage of getting lost in a pointless constitutional wrangling when after all we had a referendum not so very long ago."

Concluding his speech,  he pointed out, "Be in no doubt, over the medium term and much more over the long term the changes are very very beneficial for Scottish fishing. A big increase in North Sea cod, in North Sea haddock just in the next few years, a 25 percent increase in overall quota just in the next few years."
