Breastfeeding Friends donates AED 52,000 to Al Qassimi Hospital

In a virtual meeting, Eng. Khawla Al Noman, Head of Breastfeeding Friends Association, handed over the donation cheque to Dr. Safia Al Khaja, Director of Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The donation is allocated for performing surgeries for a number of infants with emergency conditions. “The Association is always keen to distribute the amount of Zakat to those in need according to the lists sent to us by hospitals and after having studied all the cases by an internal committee of the Association,” said Eng. Khawla Al Noman, “The donation is a humanitarian obligation to serve the society in general and support mothers and children in particular.” “That’s why we, at the Association, encourage the private sector companies and institutions to shoulder their social responsibility and step up their efforts in providing further support to the largest number possible of needy patients,” she noted. Al Noman went on to say: “The Association, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, always strives to improve the physical and mental health of mothers and children through specific programs and activities. This year, we’ve launched the “Your support is our priority” initiative, through which we have provided breast pumps devices and supplies to support women who were infected with Covid-19.” Lauding the efforts of the Breastfeeding Friends Association and its keenness to provide the moral and financial support to mothers and children, as well as their fruitful cooperation in organising joint initiatives, Dr. Safia Al Khaja said: “Such donations help overcome hardships faced by indigent patients and put a smile on their faces.” Al Khaja commended the ongoing partnership between the Hospital and the Association which comes as part of the joint keenness to reinforce values of social responsibility and support those in need.
