Sharjah 24: Saeed Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), received Low Pit Chen, the New Consul-General of Singapore to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the Authority and the institutions of the Republic of Singapore with expertise in the field of energy, water and innovation to find sustainable and innovative solutions using modern technologies.

Welcoming his guest, the Chairman of the SEWA, stressed the Authority's keenness to consolidate relations of cooperation and joint work with Singaporean institutions.

He explained that the Authority, with the support and follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, is looking forward to achieving sustainable development, providing services in accordance with the best specifications, and preparing and developing a future strategy for energy and water projects in the emirate, to meet the growing demand  for these projects, in cooperation with local and international specialised institutions and universities, as well as research centres.

He affirmed that the Authority is constantly evaluating and developing the strategic plan in all areas of its work, be they energy production and distribution or desalination, water distribution and treatment according to the best standards, and the application of the control and monitoring centre system on the electricity, natural gas and water networks to reduce the percentage of losses and detect leaks.

He added that the Authority is keen to exchange experiences, and benefit from the advanced energy management system in Singapore, which is one of the countries that have recorded global achievements in the field of energy and water management and treatment, pointing out that the manifold opportunities for cooperation between the two sides in a number of future projects, especially in the areas of energy production efficiency, reduction of network losses and training technical cadres so that they are able to keep pace with development and smart transformation in providing services and benefiting from global experiences and expertise.

Low Pit Chen reviewed the stages of technical development that Singapore has witnessed in the field of electricity networks, energy and water management, and how to market them within an investment environment that ensures sustainability and preserves the environment.

He commended the efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah in the field of preserving the environment and spreading awareness of the optimal use of energy and water, and the keenness of SEWA to prepare a comprehensive strategic plan for future projects, and its reliance on developing the skills of its human cadres, noting that institutions in Singapore are keen to contribute to the dissemination of new ideas of  cooperation, communication and more joint work opportunities between Sharjah and Singapore, especially in the field of energy and water management, and the development of transmission and distribution networks.
