UK startup 3D prints electric vehicle

Sharjah24 – Reuters: A UK startup says its 3D printed electric vehicle was designed and made in a matter of months, proving that mass customisation, rather than mass production, is affordable.
Scaled Limited, based in Swindon, say the Chameleon has a chassis made entirely from 3D printed parts, is fully electric and has a top speed of 45mph (72km/h).

The company says they wanted to show how large scale 3D printed vehicles could improve on traditional heavy engineering with their concept vehicle weighing around 90 percent less than a conventional car at just 150kg.

The printing process can produce a vehicle tailored to any specific need, whether that's an urban last mile delivery vehicle, an electric bike or perimeter inspection car.

The team says the Chameleon was made using an almost entirely waste-free process, with some recycled plastic and can itself be recycled at the end of its life.
