  • Hong Kong protests get miniaturised
Sharjah24 – Reuters: Decked out in the ubiquitous hard hats, gas masks and yellow rain coats, these protesters look ready to demonstrate at the latest Hong Kong rally. But at a second glance, they are only one-twentieth the size of the average protester and completely immobile.
The designer of these miniature protesters, who only wanted to be known as 'C', said he's using this unconventional method to document the recent anti-government protests that have rocked his hometown, Hong Kong, for months.

While he works as a photographer, C, at his heart, is a toymaker and he has applied his professional skills and interest to recreating the protesters.

"By making these toys, we capture the different form of the protesters. We have demonstrators, or protesters, of different ages, and you can see that they wear different apparel. We are trying to capture their way of dressing," said C, who declined to reveal his identity due to security reason.

A participant in many of the protests, C has documented what he's seen around him over the past few months, building miniature figures of protesters down to minuscule details such as their iconic black t-shirts and even blister-covered feet, with accompanying accessories like traffic cones, road blocks and tear gas -- all scaled to size.
