Sharjah 24 – Reuters: Hundreds of spectators watched a re-enactment of the Battle of Gumbinnen, the first major battle of World War One for the Russian Empire, in the Russian city of Kaliningrad on Sunday.
Actors playing soldiers of German and Russian Empires re-lived the events of the battle which determined early Russian success on the Eastern Front in early days of war.

Re-enactment actor Mikhail Voloshin, who was playing Cossack cavalryman said it takes a lot to train a horse to take part in event like that, as horses do not like loud noises.

After the battle, the remaining German forces retreated and once joined by reinforcements then fought the Battle of Tannenberg, one of the biggest German victories over Russia in World War One.
